No. Loquela works the moment it opens — no account, no sign-up, nothing to pay before it works. There is nothing to create and nothing to sign in to, and we never ask for a name, an email address or a password.
Almost all of it is free, permanently — typing, speaking aloud, every phrase board, preparing for a visit, the voices, the settings. The subscription buys one thing: translation. US$10.99 a month, after a first week with enough translations to use it in a real situation before deciding anything.
Listening and speaking keep working — they run on the device itself. Translation pauses until the connection returns. Nothing already said is lost.
Any time, in Settings. You can preview each voice before choosing — pick together if you can. The text size slider changes text everywhere, with a live preview.
The conversations stay on the device and no audio ever leaves it — listening and speaking both happen on the phone or tablet itself. Only the line being translated is sent, over an encrypted connection. It is not stored and not used to train anything.
From inside the app, in Settings. It's real and immediate. An Apple subscription is cancelled separately, in Apple's subscription settings; the app shows you where.
No, and it should never be used as one. You can always ask for a professional interpreter. Loquela is for everything around and in between: the reception desk, the waiting room, the rest of the day.
